Noticed a burning smell a few mornings ago, smelled like electrical. Went to use my windshield washer yesterday and there was nothing. Found a popped fuse. Replaced it, and tried it again tonight. Washers sprayed, headlights dimmed, cid popped up with driver low beam failure for a split second, then nothing. Popped the fuse again. I’m more curious as to how or where the headlights would be tied in to the washer pump. Wondering if the burning smell came from the stalk, or something in the engine compartment. Any clues or directions to head?

Replace driver side headlight bulb.
When you use washers, lights do dim, because water spray comes to headlight.
Check/replace washer pump.
You could also have bad CIM washer switchpack, but that is rare.

The headlight washer pump is disconnected as of right now, I wouldn’t think that tiny windshield washer pump has enough draw to pull from the lighting. The bulbs maybe have 10k miles on them. I didn’t cheap out on them either.

It's the water spray itself which dims the light. Apart from that, I do also think that the washer pump is the culprit - as small as that thingy is it draws 9-13 A.

My headlight washer pump literally cracked in half, and hadn't worked for years. I don't know how it cracked, it used to work, it was never run without fluid, and it always had antifreeze fluid in the tank. Also the hoses were hanging down and no matter how many times I zip-tied them in place, always seemed to escape.

I bought a fluid tank from a car without Xenons, programmed out the headlight washer, and removed it all entirely. Now I clean the headlights with a rag when they become dirty, which is basically never.

(@Germaniac will be through soon to tell me that the authorities are already on their way to arrest me for having Xenons without the legally required headlamp washer. 😉🍻)

Most likely you're going to get shot on sight.😁

But a good example for the typical overreaching manner of German authorities - get fined for a non-working headlight washer but being able to drive around legally with China rubbers made of water buffalo shíte.🙄
