Having replaced the left dipped headlamp bulb in my 52 9-3 vector, it popped again this morning... is this a known isue and if so is there a known likely cause?

did you install yourself? Did you touch the glass on the bulb itself? That would do it(..oil from your fingers will cause this problem)

NO.. the nice man at Saab did it for me.. the left dipped beam one is hard to get at until you know the tricks!!

See post 2, Natural Oils from your hand allow hotspots to develop on the glass, the bulb will burn out.

nice man but he may have touched the bulb. Don't be nasty and accuse him or he may no longer be nice. You might tell him, though.

If you touch the bulb, use alcohol to wipe off the human oils from your finger.

Ideally use a new cotton glove that some mechanics use, or a plain tissue or paper towel. Nothing with Lanolin, or Mechanics rubber gloves. I've seen some techs use those alocohol swabs to install and wipe down the Halogens and Xenons.
