Hard brake pedal

I have a 04 saab 93 linear saloon, pads and disks will need doing soon but they are still road legal
Driving normally then went to slow down and my brake pedal was stiff, thankfully my brakes were still working however I had to use a lot more strength to slow/stop. Pedal only went down a few cm’s as well.
Does anyone know what the problem could be?
Thank you in advance

check the vacuum pipe between the booster, vac pump and manifold for splits/cracks..
Did you recently change the oil? If so, check where the oil filter cap is, there is a little hose there that crosses over close to the oil filter cap. That hose might have came disconnected from the little round check valve.

I’ve checked the full car over, my down pipe has cracked completely. Going to take it to my mate so he can check the brake system. Thanks for the replies 😊
