did search on forum for "check engine codes" but didn't see how to pull the codes in the first place.

can't find in my shop manual printed in UK.

Is it like my old Ford Escort where you jump a wire and plug in a test light, or can I make it display on the "Info" screen that give MPGs, air temp AND recently told me "front headlight failure" (because how else could anyone ever know a front headlight was out:roll:).

PS-seemed to drive OK with Check Engine last couple days, but this morning it started, sounded fine for about 2-3 seconds, then quietly died, twice, so I've been waiting to get codes rather than risk something.
