The day after I spent 6 hours washing, claybarring, polishing, and then waxing my 900SE covertible, I ran into some bad luck (literally). I was on the highway behind an SUV and the SUV ran over a muffler that was lying on the highway. I could not avoid the muffler, so I had to run it over (heavy traffic prevented me from swerving). Anyway, the muffler took a huge gash out of the driver's side of my front bumper. The accident was pretty frustrating after spending all of that time working on my car. Anyway, does anyone have any idea how much it costs to repaint a bumper? I am guessing that they will have to sand the gash out and then paint over it.

It is too bad that this happened... I have all kinds of bad luck since I got this car in October but, nonetheless, I am unfazed and absolutely love this car. As a result, I want make sure the car gets fixed the "right" way instead of a quick fix.

Thanks.

How bad is the gash? Did it do any damage to the unpainted parts, or is it all in the painted area? If it's all painted, then one of those Instant Autobody places could probably fix it for a couple of hundred bucks. If the unpainted part is damaged, then you're looking at a new bumper cover for $400 and a $300 or so paint job.
