2006 9-5 with the later style cassette wheel bearings. Remove ball joint from the front control arm (FCA) or remove ball joint from the knuckle ? WIS says the Knuckle, eEuroparts YouTube shows the FCA.

I would like to do whichever is likely to disturb the alignment the least.

Thanks!

from the knuckle will not disturb the alignment at all. That's always how I've done it. It's a bit of a pain to get it back right since the ball joint has a groove in it that the bolt fits through and you have to get it perfectly aligned.

But take the bolt out and hit the A-arm with a BFH, the joint will pop out pretty easy.

I've also done the job by taking out the upper bolts on the strut and just standing on the lower A-Arm (complete with steering knuckle) until there is enough room to get the drive shaft out of the bearing.
