Hi Guys,

I have a problem where the metal brake dust cover on the from right wheel is loose and hitting the brake disk. I am pretty certain that there is low risk that it will actually come off. I do want to fix it as the noise is irritating me. I have taken the wheel off and had a look but can not seem to find any bolts that need tightening.

My question is whether anyone has some diagrams that I could look at so I can see what I need to be looking for.

It looks like you need to pull the brake rotor to get to the screws that hold the dust cover.... Ron

Loose screws can be a PITA. I'd use anti-seize and over-torque by a little.
Locktite ?
Seldom is the dust shield removed, but I had one on the old VW that was slowly removing itself via rust. Sometimes the shield is bent, easy to re-bend.

I got a rock cought between the shield and the rotor once...

The front dust shields on my '01 Sierra are no more - they rusted away, but the ones on the Saab are still there... Ron

Oh boy. I have spent the last hour trying to pry the rotor off. I don't need to take off the wheel hub bolt do I. If I do what size is it? I am going to purchase a big rubber mallet tomorrow. . .

You took out the single screw on the rotor didn't you? I had trouble getting the wheels off the hubs when I first got the car. After I used some persuasion, I used some nevr-seize when I put it back together. Haven't had any problems since.

I think that the screws for the brake dust cover can be accessed through ane of the holes in the hub. You just need to turn it until you can see the screw... Ron

Yeah the screw in the rotor came right off. Glad to hear that I wont need to take off the hub. Might have a second look with a torch tomorrow as I think the hole in the rotor might match up to the holes in the hub.

Just bend the dust cover out of the way. This happens from time to time, no need to tighten anything or remove anything more than the wheel.

Well I finally managed to fix it. For anyone with this problem in the future, you don't need to take the rotor off. There are holes in the rotor that match up with the screws.
