The bushings in the front subframe of my 2002 9-5 Aero wagon were dead. A lot of guys on the forums talk about just replacing the back two (2). But I decided I'd do the job right so I ordered replacement parts of all six (6) bushings.
I ordered the parts off eSaabParts.com (a good parts supplier with decent diagrams).
For the rear (2) I ordered part number #12762090. Which is actually only shown for the 2006-2009 models. Apparently it's an upgraded part with better construction than the 1999-2005 bushings. Good news -- the newer model #12762090 bushings fit well.
Per eSaabParts, eEuroparts, SaabPartsCounter the replacement for the middle bushings is part #5231808. However when my installer tried to put them in, they found that the exterior dimension was 1.5mm too big and could not be pressed in without sanding them down.
Both the installer and I got curious, thinking that maybe this car had a 1999-2001 subframe under it. 1999-2001 9-5s call out a different part number, Saab OE #4566923. Which eEuroparts shows crosses over with #5233382 (the bushings that are used in the front). Also the photos for #4566923 and #5233382 look identical but there is a $20 difference in cost.
My installer verified that the center bushing is NOT #5233382 however. Because #5233382 is 2mm smaller than the old bushing they removed from the center!
In the end, we sanded down #5231808 to fit in the center position on my car. I still don't know if #4566923 might have been the correct part number. I suspect that it is, and that my 2002 had a 2001 subframe under it.
I can tell you for sure, that despite the photos, #4566923 and #5233382 art NOT the same part.
