I plan on upgrading my springs, however, i want to hear what you guys have to say.

1. what brand did you go with?

2. how many miles were on the factory suspension when you made the upgrade?

3. did you stay with your factory dampers?

4. .. and the most important... would you do it again? why?

PS, for those that had the infamous suspension "knocking" before you upgraded, does it still happen?

gunner-

i jsut got the H&R springs from tirerack installed...i love them, lowered the car about 1/4" and it looks great. i didnt change anything else, just the springs, so the rest of the suspension is stock. the ride is a little harder and sportier but nothing over the top, still nice

If the body roll bothers you, you might be better starting off with the sport chassis upgrade kit, which includes the sway bar upgrade. Most people seem quite happy with the performance of this kit (but i think the sway bars are quite time consuming to fit).

93t, did you get the chance to drive a demo somewhere or did you find out the hard way by purchasing and fitting two times? any recommandations? did you also try the eibachs or other brands? Tx for the reply!

I have tried a friends SS with the 45mm kit and I didnt like it, the looks is great but the ride comfort sucks.

I have the Eibach kit on my own car.

getting curious now..:D

what was the reason for changing for you? handling or looks? are you happy with the eibachs and what is the difference in feeling to the stock aero suspension? less roll, less understeer? harder ride? is your front spoiler still the original one?:cheesy:
was it expensive to get it mounted?

The difference between stock and Eibach isnt signifficant at all, the looks are greatly improved but the comfort havnt changed much.

The handling has improved greatly, I have tryed the car at the track (Knutstorp raceway) and it was great to drive.

The front spoiler is still stock

Mounted the springs myself and it wasnt that hard at all.

93t, Im about to purchase the Eibachs as the feed back so far seems good, and if they're good enough for Hirsch, then they're good enough for me.

How long did it take you to fit them, and was there an special tools required (other than a spring compressor)?

Heres a guide I wrote to a member through PM, hope it helps:

Front:

*Remove wheels
*Loosen the brake line
*Loosen the ABS cable bracket
*Loosen the upper nut to the sway bar rod 18mm
*Loosen the two nuts on the strut 18mm
*Open hood
*Loosen the three 13mm bolts holding the strut from above
*Now the strut is loose and can be picked out

Heres where you need the spring tensioner.

*tension the spring
*loosen the upper nut (21mm) on the strut, when using a pnematic air gun you dont need any special tool to hold the shock rod.
*lift away the lid, upper bearing unit and the rubber thingy
*untension the stock spring and lift it off the strut
*remove the rubber hose attached to the lower part of the spring.
*reattach the hose to the new spring.

*put the new spring on the strut,
*tension the spring
*mount the rubber casing, upper bearing unit and the lid
*tension the 21mm nut with the power gun
*reassemble starting with the three 13mm bolts inside of the hood.

Rear:

*Remove wheels
*unhook (10mm) the arm on the little measuring box connected to the suspension arm (only when the car is equipped with Xenon headlamps)
*Loosen the nut on the outer lower part of the steering knuckle (the aluminum suspension arm is supposed to come down)
*Ram the bolt out with a hammer carfully as the spring tensions the suspension arm.
*after bending down the suspension arm the spring should be loose
*remove the upper and lower rubber bushing from the spring
*Reattach the rubber parts to the new spring
*Position the new sping
*Use a jack or similar to wind up the suspension arm compressing the spring.
*Ram the bolt in the steering knuckle when the holes from the suspension arm are aligned.
*Tension the nut

Finished!

Hope you can understand it all, my technical English is rather limited.

93t, Thats great, and your techinal English is pretty good - especially using the word 'thingy'!
I think i'll be placing an order for the Eibach's before the day is out. The only tool i wont be using is a air gun, i assume that i may need to secure the strut in someway when using manual tools, but i'm sure it wont be a problem.
