Well, its finally time to get it done. What else should be replaced while theyre changing the water pump? They have to remove a lot of belts as it is, so I figure the belts should be changed while theyre at it too, right?
Serpentine belt and ideler pulley change. At the same time check the alternator's charging to see if it's adequate as well as checking and replacing the radiator hoses, thermostat & heater core hoses if in need of replacing then do a radiator flush.
And don't forget to check the power steering pump's bearing and the AC's for noise or wobbling.
Since Wazzee has increased their prices, the availability may be better. But, has the bearing quality improved ??
But now, on an economic basis, I cannot buy it.
I'd just go the short belt route and renew the idler pulley and belt every 50K miles. But the under hood inspection ,every 3 to 5 K ,becomes very important as the idler pulley can fail anytime over 30K miles.. This can co-inside with the oil change.
There is no sense in doing a "blind oil change", in other words, inspecting nothing during this service time.
Canyon, what is this with a "lot of belts" ?
