Although I’m not a regular poster, I have used this forum a lot to help influence my purchasing and modification decisions. After seeing and driving the NG 9-5 last year I was on the fence for a while about purchasing one. I finally took the plunge earlier this summer and purchased a 2010 9-5 Aero.

While the car was amazing, diving such a rare and discontinued car has too many logistical hassles of ownership. Simple parts were/are impossible to come by and the thought of being stuck with a 30K car that was inoperable due to a $2 part was always weighing on my mind.

After owning the car for les than 3 months I had a transmission issues that gave me a taste of what getting this car serviced could be like in the future. Luckily I was still under the mandatory used car warranty in the stat I purchased the car and ended up reaching agreement with the original dealership to buy the car back at the full purchase price less than 3 month after I bought it. While I’m sad to see such a nice car go, I’m positive it was the right decision.

I’m only posting this as word of warning to others who may be thinking about buying one of these cars. If you are looking at buying a daily driver make sure to think through your decision. I was originally blinded by the performance and feel of the car and did not fully realize how small of a network the NG 9-5 has. This and other Saab forums are a life line if you do own this particular car, but for me it was a risk I really could not live with.

In the last 3 months I went from 3 Saabs to one. Hopefully my 9-7x will keep us happy for a few more years before it’s time to move on to a new brand.

Good luck to all of you.

I won't disagree with you. My Turbo X is a nice car, but it has lots of pretty rare pieces. Currently I have a turbo plumbing line on indefinite back order, luckily it still drives. Lots of XWD issues out there too which could sideline the car pretty quickly.
Other cars are calling, but how to get rid of the current ride without taking a bath. You got lucky on that one.
