So I finally got around to getting at my fan speed resistor since it's getting chilly...

When I took my false firewall out, I noticed three issues that I'd like a second opinion on:

1. The aquarium cover is cracked, to the point where it's in two peices. The part covering the ECU can come off without removing the part covering the blower motor. Bad thing? Does it matter? It's not loose or anything, no flopping.

2. The back side of the false firewall is super rusty. The paint peeled off in my hands when I pulled it out. Do I care?

3. When I finally got the bloody thing out, some of the rubber gaskets that hold the wire loom and hoses crumbled in my hand. Should I get them replaced?

Anybody with experience with this area? Thanks!

You will eventually have real problems with water getting into things that don't like water.

I'd be inclined to seal it up, either with bunges/repairs or head for a junkyard for parts.
