I have some audio CDs burned to 700MB (80 minute) CDs. I have the factory Clarion CD/EQ player. The first few songs on some discs sound fine, but as I start hitting songs higher on the list I get a distortion that I first thought was the stereo itself. Could this be that the CD player just does not like CDR discs, or is it more likely I need to use a standard 650MB (70 minute) CD?

I use 700mb CD-Rs without any problems in my standard Clarion CD changer. You could try changing the speed at which you write your CDs and/or clean your CD lens, and/or change your brand of CD-R's and see if these improve things or not.

Just that I should add in case anyone else comes across this: Stuart is correct, I burned some new CDs at 4x and they play perfectly. Same CDs, same songs etc..

p.s. thanks for the help
