I just replaced the intermediate (flex tube) pipe on my 900. It's leaking a little bit at BOTH ends! i find the Saab ball and socket design to be difficult to get a good seal with, and it doesn't help that the replacement pipe was 2 cm short, i'm sure, though i've had this problem in the past with a resonator pipe replacement.

Am I missing something in the installation? Should i be installing it with a putty or sealant that bakes into a seal - or waiting for it to rust itself sealed?

My current method is to push the ends together as best as possible and install a clamp. No gasket, sealant, etc.

I realize this question likely belongs in the 'too stupid to ask' category, but all of the other exhausts i've replaced have used a bolt together design with squishable gaskets...
