My diesel estate suspension seems very very soft and rolls around the bends.
I am thinking of replacing the bushes and possibly the shocks with lowered springs.
Now before I splash out on shocks and springs would it be worthwhile replacing the bushes to see if this improves the ride and handling.
If so which bushes are the known weak points on the 9-5 estates ?

Thanks

The rear shocks themselves are a known weak point

9-5 Estate 2.2.tid Rear Suspension

Poodle,

My wife's car has a similar problem.

A leaky shock on the o/s which was replaced as a pair with standard sachs. Bu there is still somenthing not quite right with it! Wondering if there are some trailing arm bushes which need replacing. A bit scary on left hand bends on a bumpy road!

Any ideas out there??

You can replace suspension bushes with those fancy Powerflex ones but other owners have found them to be too harsh and crashy. All standard (non Aero) 9-5's are soggy in the bends and benefit greatly from uprated shocks and springs. Bilstein shocks with Eibach springs seems a very popular choice.
