Hi
Never heard of that code , what reader are you using ?
However , I typed Saab and that error code into Google and found a thread on a site called UKSaabs.co.uk which included this line

fault code 4916 is decimal for P1334 (hex) which is a knock detection fault on cyls 3&4 i believe. Hope fully someone with WIS will confirm that for you.
P1334 is indeed a code for knock detection and is usually caused by poor (or wrong type) plugs or tired DIC.
But.......I have a 2004 9-5 Vector currently which shows a CEL from time to time. it pops on and stays on for a week or a minute, totally random. The code ?
P1334.
I have replaced the plugs and DIC and its the same. the car drives superbly and the engine smooth as silk.

Oh I just read if you start the car three times then the CEL goes out. Ah I forgot about converting the code lol. So yea its 1334. What happens when the DI goes? I had new plugs put in a few months ago. Its going for MOT tomorrow in any case.

The DIC hopefully will give you hesitations and misfires to indicate it's going out. Otherwise DIC failure will be instant. The same as a fuel pump failure. Engine will simply stop firing and you'll be stranded. Hopefully you won't be in motion at the time!

Errmmm, what plugs did you fit?
If they were not the correct ( check manual) NGK plugs then they may very well be the cause.
The DIC will just stop and you will be stranded. Occasionally you may get a gradual misfire but most owners who have reported a dead DIC say it was instant.
The MOT will not bring up any issue with the code other than it should fail with the CEL light on. The MOT man will find nothing at all that is relevent though in the course of testing your car.

Yea I know but I will tell him and he can check it out Its my uncle so he may show interest in keeping me alive. The plugs were NKGs I believe. It seems so dodgy that the car will just stop dead. I very rarely drive on a straight road so this could result in a messy accident unless I am very lucky.

I just found a website for DIC that is over half the price than others. Is this proper saab replacement or cheap chinese DIC?

From your posts it is something you have experienced once and then only for a few moments. In view of that I would not be rushing anywhere spending money on a new DIC ( around £200+ for genuine one)
Get on Ebay, by a cheap ( but tested working ) unit and stick it in the boot.
If and when you break down then you have an instant DIC available.
Check the plugs and the gap. Get some diaelectic grease around the connections, ge a spare DIC in the boot and get driving is my advice.

Why is that?
The car doesn't explode into pieces you know, its just a little harder to control.

What do you mean by changing my driving to suit the roads? Don't you mean changing my driving style to suit the possibility of a DIC failure? If I'm taking a corner at speed and i lose power steering and brakes then that would cause an issue surely.
Interpret it how ever you consider best but remember it was you who brought 'the way I drive' into the equation.
That suggests you feel DIC failure would impact on you differently to the impact it may have on others due to the way you drive.
DIC failure on a bend is not going to be welcome to any of us any more than any other sudden failure would be. I have had a serpentine belt snap at speed. Instant PS failure.
PITA yes, but catastophic no.
Fitting a brand new and genuine DIC will not remove that possibility at all. DIC failures have been reported at very low mileage. Fake or copy units moreso.

Wow whats with the touchiness. Obviously it could have an impact on anyone not just me. If your trying to make me seem selfish and reckless then do one. I do drive safely but I also like to enjoy myself. And yes you can enjoy yourself without endangering the lives of others. If you knew what roads I was talking about then maybe you would get your head out of your ***. Thanks for the non-arsy information though.
