 Hi
The 2.2TDi engine in my 2003 arc, seems to crank for an age before firing up, it is liklely to be only about 10 seconds, but seems a longer. No other car I have had has taken this long to fire up prevoiusly. This is taking its toll on my battrey which I think is about shot as I have had to jump her a couple of times latley. Is this a normal crank time or do I have a problem?
thanks
stuart

are you asking about a 9-3 or a 9-5? people in the 9-5 forums may be helpful, but if you're asking about a 9-3SS, you might have more luck in that forum.

Excessive cranking time ist not normal. Check your glowpug circuit, and check if the ECU in the Injectionpump starts the glowplugs at low temperatures. If it doesnt, you may need a new fuel injection pump

Long cranking periods on a previous Citroen diesel was down to poor glow plug condition. Is there a big puff of smoke when it finally catches?
