If I were to get an engine support beam, how much weight does it need to be rated up to? I see some for sale that support up to 700lbs, some that'll support 1100. I don't want to get crushed!

I'd say about 500 pounds, maybe 600 tops for the Saab I4 engine and transmission.

The price difference for the two (700 and 1100) is probably not that much.

I have, in the past used a 2 by 4 for this purpose without a problem.
There may be an engine/transmission weight in Haynes... or there should be...

I got a Big Red for like $40.00. It will support a Cummins diesel. It is adjustable so it just fits. Expanded, I think it will fit a school bus.
