I have a 2007 9-3 aero. It suddenly started sputtering (and bucking, etc.) when it accelerates with the cruise control on. For example, going up a hill--as soon as it throttles up the bucking starts. Does not do this with cruise off. Since there are no dealerships I took it to an independant mechanic who has Saab diagnostic computer. It whowed error codes to one of the ignition coils. That was replaced and it still did it. Hooking it to the computer again showed no codes. So we tried replacing all of the igniyion coils and spark plugs. It still does it--but ONLY when cruise is on. Ever heard of this anyone. What connection is there between the cruise and whatever is causing this?????

no help for you but I am having a similar sputtering issue (will write a post).
only thing is, it happens regardless of having the cruise on or off.
all the plugs and coils were checked.
The mechanic said something about having to send it to GM to "revamp" or "reset" the computer.

let us know if you find a fix!

Update

I thank you for your post. I took that information to my mechanic when I took the car in for oil change. I shared tour information with him and told him I would have to contact GM to get a computer update. He respnded by saying "no you don't". There is another mechanic in a nearby town that can run a software update. So I will be taking it to him. If it works I will let you know. Thanks again!

Further update

Well, I had the software update run, but it did not help. This time the diagnostic computer showed "#4 cylinder misfire". So once again the coil was replaced on that cylinder. They have now replaced 5 of the 6 coils. It seems to be OK, but each previous attempts seemed to help at first and then it went right back to sputtering, etc. If this doesn't do it I will have to get rid of this car. I'm afraid that I'm going to be stranded somewhere. If things go well I will update again.
