My gas cap was loose, stupid gas station guy didnt tighten it properly. Now I have that nasty amber engine light on and it won't go away. It's only been a day so far, any luck as to get it to turn off without going to dealer... I've had problem before, dealer told me to just ride it out, but I dunno, just hoping someone has experienced this before as well...

Same with me. It randomly came on last night (4 days after I last filled up). I checked the gas cap and sure enough, it was so loose that I didn't even have to turn it to remove it, I just lifted it up and off it came.

I don't get how it came loose, I don't think anyone's played with it. I thought it may have been due to the heat, but it's basically been pretty muggy this entire past month. For the past day, I've been finding myself checking the gas cap every time before I start the car because I'm afraid it's come loose again. As of now, it's still tight and the engine light is still on. Am I a little paranoid? Yes.

Ok good so i'm not crazy then. I was thinking back, I turned cap last time i filled up and i remember it clickin when i turned it. But when i went to check it was loose, it's been pretty hot/muggy in nyc recently. I wonder, it seems there's more than meets the eye *transformers reference* when it comes to gas cap, I know it's been discussed before, i think even a recall at one point. I would love for others to chime in with possible remedies to get my enginel light to turn off...
