EDIT: Best place to get '94 Saab C900 key copied in Los Angeles?

Hey, only have one key to my 1994 Saab C900, looking to get 3 copies made cheaply :)

Is it cheaper if I buy some Saab key blanks on eeuroparts and bring them to a locksmith, or should I just go to a Saab guy?

Original post: Hi! I am new to this forum. I have come here because I have lost the only key I have for my 1994 Saab 900 convertible.
The local Saab specialist has advised the he needs to take the door panel off to get a code to be able to make the key and that it would cost $150. This would also require me to have the car towed to his mechanics workshop.

How can I take the panel off the door myself, so that I can give him the code?

(The car is UNLOCKED, so I have access to both sides of the doors.)

With good eyesight and a good flashlight, you can read it off the trunk lock.
Charles River SAAB parts dept. can provide a code from a VIN.
Hope the ignition lock has not been changed.

Thanks for your response Jim! I ended up finding the key! Now I am looking to get several copies made cheaply :)
