front handbrake

I guess the part that confused me was tat I didn't realize that the part where you pump the brakes and pull on the lever to set the handbrake must be done for each wheel individually. Now that I've put it all back together, I need to know how to get it in sync.

First off, are you sure you reconnected it? The e-brake is disconnected for the work you did.

Do you have the vented rotors?

My '87 8v N/A has the solid front rotors and the front hand brake is only on the right side (If memory is correct).

The procedure for resetting was something about clicking the handbrake up a couple and then pressing the brake pedal. Bentley goes over it.

FYI for others - Rear handbrake is different.

I have solid rotors.

I never disconnected the e-brake cable when I did this work.

The pump-pull thing didn't seem to do anything, so perhaps I did disconnect the ebrake somehow. You are supposed to pull the cable out of the lever, correct? I'm pretty sure the cable is still attached to the levers.

I don't see how you could remove the rotor and caliper without removing the e-brake cable from the caliper e-brake arm .I had to . I just changed a warped rotor on my front handbrake car ,wound back the caliper piston to clear the pads , clicked the handbrake up 3 notches and pumped the brakes . E-brake works perfect. Might have to adjust yours from inside the car. (Bentley 551-3) Pat
