My ebrake works great up until the caliper and the cables are in mint condition. i have tightened the cables to no avail. when i pull up the handle the cable retracts at the rear and the spring right behind the caliper that is connected to the cables retracts as well. however the ebrake doesnt function. Im thinking its something actually inside the caliper, so my question is can i fix this without getting new calipers? and if i do have to get new calipers, does anyone have recommendations for good calipers?

You can disconnect the cable (it can be done while connected too tbh) & "set" the paring brake at the caliper with a screwdriver or pry bar. If you're unable to do that then your caliper is seized...mine seized on of course & cooked the brake pad/rotor. WD40 may help in a very mild case but more likely than not it would need a replacement in that case.

Remember, you must twist the piston as you press it in, or you will damage the caliper. There is a special tool for doing this.

And, be ready to buy a new caliper anyway, they're not the most reliable things.
