Slowly but surely trying to upgrade my 2003 Vector. Was on Genuinesaab to find an sport air intake but found out that the filters would not work becasue my intake has the SAI (small hose coming out of the front of the air box). If I were to use a drop in JR sport filter (square) would I get the same effect as a cone filter?

Does that mean that not all 2003 vectors in the states have air boxes with the snorkel coming out of the front? Just added a twin sport exhaust. Any ideas on how to add some decent sound and a couples horses? I already ride the rpms up to hear that great hssssssss.

I'm new here. Thanks for the input.

Try this link for a shot of the JR cone with the second smaller cone.

Yes, I believe all 2003's with the 2.0T have the intake box with the SAI hose. For that matter it may be ALL 2.0T's no matter the build year.

PFS is a site sponsor and favorite here for pricing as well. You can create an account so that when you login you will see prices in dollars. You will need to click on the currency icon. The VAT will also be subtracted. UK pricing includes the VAT, which does not apply to exports. The prices also fluctuate with the exchange rate.

Probably the two most commonly asked questions here.

For power, the BSR PPC is the most widely installed among users here. Do a search.

For sound, the favorite is probably a drop in lower restriction filter by ITG or JR. This makes the intake sounds a bit louder. Next up are the cone filters, which make it A LOT louder.

Interesting.. Does anyone have the cone filter installed? Do you mean the BSR Optifilter? If so is it much better than the simple square JR drop in one? I'm gonna go with a ppc stage 1 soon i think, and cant decide it i should just get the square or cone filter....

Ctrlz,
Thanks. I saw the intake on that site last night so it's good to know that I was looking at the right one. Think I'll start with the drop in and see how I like the sound. Thanks for the detail on the site itself...I was beginning to ask around anyone know the conversion rate for the British Pound?;)

I'll register and see what the $ price shows up as. Just became a memeber here yesterday. I can't believe it took me almost two years before realizing that the people who know most about Saabs are not the ones sitting behind the desk at my dealership. Don't take it the wrong way, they've been great but I doubt they'd be helping me find an air intake at 10pm at night.

Thanks for all your help.

An older thread on the cone filters.

At the time I was not sure if that snorkel was for evap/purge, SAI, or both. It's been referred to a few times as SAI, so that's probably what it is. The purge line for the evap system must be plumbed elsewhere.
