Hi All,

If I fully charge my battery (2 years old) and then disconnect it, how long will it hold its charge?

When I leave it connected, the alarm and radio drain it in about 4 weeks.

Thanks for any reply.

Should last a month or two before starting to discharge. After that it discharges slowly even when disconnected. If you're leaving it for a long time, it's probably as well to connect up a battery 'keeper' - essentially a charger that senses level of charge and only charges when this drops.

Thanks so much for the replies.

Unfortunately, there is no power supply where I park the car!

I'll have to take it upstairs to the flat and keep it charged there.

I just installed one of these in my trunk next to my battery. I ran my radio power all the time lead to the hot side of it and it works great. keep all my stations and not kill the battery.

Another important preventive measure is to keep the top of the battery clean.

Crud+moisture produce a conductive path between the battery terminals, with obvious results.

Use a damp shop towel sprinkled with baking soda to wipe the battery, then follow with a dry towel--that's all there is to it :)
