Is there a certain direction one side of the pivot bearing should be facing in the flywheel when inserted ? (Does that make sense ?)

My haynes Saab manual says yes.

But both sides/faces of my new bearing look identical. Well they look identical.

So I can put it in either way !!!!

Am I missing something.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What bearing are we talking about here? The pilot bearing in the flywheel, or the throwout bearing on the slave cylinder?

AFAIK they are symmetrical, and can go in either way. I've never noticed anything that would suggest otherwise. Some pilot bearings (or, more usually, bushings) are directional, but I don't think they are on the c900.
