I had a fail to proceed and finally got chance to look today. Car was running fine, then misfire and would not run. I noticed today that the Di cassette was smoking. On removal, it was getting very hot between plug 3 and 4. Refitted an old one, all fine. The Di cassette is a patern one - scantech I think. Only 3 years old, less than 2000 miles, new plugs fitted when replaced, etc. Plugs seem still fine

That is a pity.
I have only ever bought used ones, so far so good.
Though a nice new one would probably make the car start much better.
Seems to me they lose "capacity", I have found some that work fine on a Low Pressure or Normal aspiration, don't always work on a high pressure turbo.

That just confirms all the things I consistently say about Scantech --
Buy an SEM at the junkyard for $25 and you'll be a happier person and have a more reliable part!
Just check the date code and only get one made after 1999.
