I finally swapped a T3 trim60 on my Saab, with the pretty extensive port job done on the head, I can say the car feels pretty good now. Used to run 1.2 bar on the original Mitsubishi TE05-12b and now I run 0.75 bar (APC fuse disconnected = base boost) with the trim60 and a port job and the performance is nearly the same although the boost pressure is 0.45 bars lower!

Ok back to the point; I want to run 1.3-1.5 bar max boost all the way thru the redline but I'd also like to keep my APC unit if that's possible. So, is it OK to run 0.75bar base boost? (I have a knock light mounted, also other factor like IC, fuel and ignition are already sorted out)

Also could anyone who is running a high base boost give me the readings on their P and F pots? (in kOhm)

I think someone has run a high base boost here, was it Tandino...? Anyway, comments are most welcome and if someone can give me a rough estimate on where to turn the P and F pots (in Ohm/kOhm please), that would be great too... Saves me a lot of gas and probably my driving license

Hey John. Have a look at my APC-thread, that might help you keep your boost high at high rpm...
As for K-ohms, I can't relly help you, as my T8 wont get anywhere NEAR your boost-levels...

I run a high basic boost but cannot say what the APC is set to as I use an MBC. :cheesy: :cheesy:

If you want to up the basic boost significantly then you need to get an actuator rated to the higher pressure instead of winding the preload up on the existing actuator. Shortening the wastegate arm too much will prevent the APC from dumping boost if knock is detected and can also lead to boost creep at high RPMs which is fun but dangerous to the engine.

Daniel: Yes, I'm reading your thread right now. Very interesting! Let's see if I get crazy enough and mod my APC (again) this weekend... I'm just very wary of all new things. But hey, I have a knock led, what could go wrong...?

Alex: Yep, I have an uprated actuator. The lowest setting it can go to is 0.75 bar so I really can't go any lower. Oh yes, did I mention that the actuator and it's bracket is spotWELDED on the turbo (don't ask me why, I got it second-hand)... So for the moment I am stuck with that base boost :)

Dunno Mate.. In my world 8 psi is on the Ragged edge of dangerous for Base Boost setting... you do the Bar conversion:)
Not recomended.. IF you need that level of Base then there is Something seriously amiss .. Suggest you fix it before yer having to replace the Pistons .
On the other hand a replacement Saab car is worth V little coin.. so maybe you aren't risking much at all :)
