Hi, I just bought a Viggen convertible, and, call me a wimp, but It is the first Saab i've had that hasn't got cruise control. I have read somewhere that the indicator stalk with integrated cruise control is all you need if you are lucky, but I have fitted that and it hasn't worked! If I get the switches for the brake and clutch off the bracket by the pedals is it likely that the wiring will be there to connect up to and are there any other connections or settings to change, does anyone else have a Viggen with cruise control? any comments would be appreciated! (except the wimp references - I know that!)

need cruise control module

you don`t mention if you have the cruise control module fitted in the engine compartment, i`m about to buy that along with the stalk, wiring for module is already there, in the engine compartment, so all i have to do is fit module attach connector and fit cruise control stalk, pedal swithes were already there!
here`s hoping it all works:p

Forgive me if i'm wrong, but on the trionic models do they need a module, as I thought it was all part of the function of the ECU? Others on here have said they just fitted the switches and the indicator stalk, and the cruise worked?

hi, i am as i said about to fit cruise control to my saab 93, year 2000,
spent a lot of time checking out what i need and how to fit,
check this out:
http://www.saabworkshop.com/index.php?page=workshop&article_id=7

only difference is with my cruise control module ( ECM ) has the software built in to the module, on post 2001 you are right its done by the engine management ECM, but you still need the cruise ecm module.
check to see if you can see the wiring harness its usually just under drivers windscreen wiper, the unit is fitted behind the right hand front suspension turret.
not good at explaining it sorry hope it helps

On a trionic 7 car (2000 my) you only need to add the cruise switch and brake and clutch switches. A T5 car- not sure.
now i`m confused, my car is trionic yr 2000 no way did the cruise control work with just installing the stalk on the steering wheel and switches on pedals, problem i had is the accelerator is opened/closed via a cable to pedal inside car, so how does cruise control move the accelerator if there is no physical link to open / close throttle to maintain the selected speed, it can`t happen, and did not, thats why i installed the cruise/speed control module in the engine compartment, it has a cable coming from module and attaches just below the accelerator cable.
To maintain the selected speed the cruise module has a motor which opens/closes the accelerator by the cable linked from module to the accelerator butterfly.

and for the record, it works perfectly,:cheesy:

It works!

Thanks to all who helped, and for information to anyone else who wishes to fit cruise to a t-7 engined car, you really do just need the indicator stalk, and switches on the clutch and brake, the wires for which are waiting in place. One tip, though, move the fuse box out of the way, or you'll have the devil's own job getting the air ducting back in place!
