While replacing the DRL bulb in the driver's side headlamp unit (xenon) I managed to dislodge the wire connector to the left-right stepper motor. This connector is a b****h to get back on, and it took removal of the headlight unit and some surgery to get access to the connector. After making sure the connector was secure, I was still getting the "Cornering headlight malfunction" message on the SID. I tried disconnecting the battery terminal to no avail. Does the terminal have to stay off a certain length of time to reset the computer? Is there something else I need to do? Help!

Once disconnected i believe it has to be recalibrated with a TechII.

I think you "can" disconnect it if you disconnect battery first and wait about 15 min and do the reverse when reconnecting. AFAIK

"EDIT" Or is that only on earlier xenon equipped 9-3's?

Probably can, but I was referring to his particular situation. He accidently disconnected while battery was still connected, which could've thrown a cslibration error.

Very true. I always exercise caution and disconnect the battery when working on anything electrical in this car because of issues like this.;)

No, you can't do that with an OBD2. You might be able to disable that with a Tech2. Not sure.

I have the same issue, I have tried to calibrate with Tech 2 and also tried to disconnect the battery it didn't work. What's next?
What happened for me, after my post in 2012, was that I had to take the car to the (former) Saab dealer and they re-programmed/reset the headlight error. It's been working fine ever since. I don't know what they used to reprogram it. I assume it was a Tech II but I don't know.

I did try to calibrate the headlight with Tech 2 but it was unsuccessful. I have noticed that the driver side headlamp is not moving up and down when the car is starting but it moves a little sideway when it is in HID position. What could be the cause?

Probably need to replace the headlights as I don't think the parts come separate. Frankly, I would just disable the auto leveling with a tech2 and aim them manually.
