Got a convertible and having some top issues.

For awhile the top would make a creakin' sound from an area under the toneau cover on the driver side (sounded like a rollar coaster getting pulled up an incline). Then the top would stop somewhere in the middle. I'd have to gobackwards to go forwards (or go forwards to go backward) to get it moving. A day or so later convertible top fuse blew.

took it to tech 2. got error codes:

* B2020 (#5 bow intermediate switch);
* B2035 (tonneau up switch, function incorrect), and
* B2050 (main down switch, function incorrect).

one of the pistons (DS) looked dry as well. Checked the oil under the rear seat, but everything ok.

Anybody ever go through this?

Was told to first, try and replace the microswitch identified as--
"93 1998-2003 Intermediate Microswitch Located on Side Member Assembly" (from thesaabsite) (http://www.thesaabsite.com/93/93convertibleparts.htm)

The question besides, anybody have a simialr problem, is...

how hard is it to replace this microswitch in my 2002 SE CNV?

the microswitch actuating arm is catching on something, order the switch, the its pretty easty to replace it, first, you need to have to top down (if it doesnt go down you are gonna have to hook it up to a tech II to put it down) keep the cover up, look down and you can see the switch, pull the rear seat like you are lookin at the pump (connecter is there somewhere), and pull the drivers side side panel to expose the wiring, just trace the wiring back, pull the connector, the swtich is held in by 1 allen screw and a locating pin....its as easy as that.


I also threw similar codes when my 5th bow switch went, but it ended up JUST being the 5th bow switch

Hey, thanks for the instruction. I waited until the rain stopped so I wouldn't get caught in any funny business, but... it worked like a charm. The convertible top works as good as new -- no rollarcoaster creaking sound nor any issues with the top stopping at around the 1/3 point up point.

It was pretty was to change other than trying to run the wire the exact same way the factory did -- littler hands would have cut 30 minutes off the project. When I went to remove the old micro-switch... the metal switch just snapped off on its own. At that point, I knew, at the very least, that the micro switch was f'ed. But who would have known that little thing caused so much inconvenience and noise.

glad it worked for you! I actually have to go back in after it warms up and adjust my arm, its starting to click.

Hi, the intermediate switch is retained by a single allen screw, however the wiring connector plug is located behind the interior panel. I would remove the switch and cut the wires, then use some quality crimps / connectors to reconnect the wires to the new switch. The easiest way to access the switch is to drop the hood completely but with the main rear flap left in the up position. Hope this helps
