I've been wanting to do this for a while. The way to do it is to pull out the A/C compressor and put in a shorter belt. I guess in the UK 9000s could be had with a 2.3 and no A/C, so they all had this shorter belt.

BUT

I have no idea how long of a belt is needed. I've read everything from 2310mm to 2370mm, which is a good 2 and a quarter inches difference.

For now, I've just removed the condenser (the radiator looking thing that's bolted to the intercooler), sealed up the lines going to it, and unplugged the wires going to the A/C compressor. I figure that's almost as good as pulling the whole thing.

i have a 91 9000 2.3 turbo. i want to remove the a/c (doesn't work, don't care bout it, and too expensive to make work) what can i do with the serp. belt to take the spot of teh a/c pulley? is there any 9000's that didn't have a/c?
you may have to use 2 belts rather than 1. ? ;)
