can i use a :

GARRETT T3 AR42 TURBOCHARGER from a SAAB 9000

the actual fitment isnt a problem , i really like to know if i can use this without modifying my ecu ?
e.g can i bolt it on and go ??

thanks,

get a tdo4

get a tdo4-15t atleast!!!

Get one with a #6 housing from a 1994-1998 9k aero with a manual trans... you will be more than happy... tuning can be had for a fraction of the price of what it used to be.

Search gooogle for JZW tuning ... put the turbo on with the oil and coolant lines that came with that car... ask john for astage 1 or 2 for your car.... and begin the tuning process!!!

If you change out your turbo you need to have your ECU modded for the new turbo. If it was me I would get a rebuilt GT17. Do a search on the forum to see what some people have done in the past. Good luck.
hi, bit confused ... if i put on a td04 , cant i just leave the ecu without modifying it ?
i mean the boost is electronically controlled and wont go over the factory setting ( cant remember what that is.....?) , so all the a/f settings should be ok ? i know that it wont go any better , since boost will be the same as with the gt17 ... all this sorta boils down to a time frame , i can get a tdo4 quicker than a gt 17..

Yes you can run the TD04 with the LPT software, but you will experience more turbo lag, and no performance gains. So go ahead and put it in, but order your aero ecu in the meantime and the aero plugs. Once you have those you can run down to the dealer and they will marry the ecu and install it for 1 hour labor.
I wouldn't run the Td04 on the LPT software for very long.

^^^ This.

Don't bother rebuilding the GT17. Ignore that advice.

If you have the opportunity to approach Aero performance for close to the cost of restoring your existing setup, the path is clear ;)
