So the grey fitting that comes out of the valve cover snapped after I relized the top nipple was broken. I'm in a small town with a Napa auto parts, but they don't have access to that part.

Is this something I can cap off with a plug until I get home or just leave as an open hole? With the engine running, air comes out of the hole. I'm reluctant to cap it for fear of building up too much pressure in the head.

Either keep a vacuum line loosely inserted in the hole or leave it open. You don't want to block it off.
Thanks for the quick response.

FYI, for anyone searching in the future for this issue:

Everything worked out just fine. I left the broken piece in place and the two hoses (including PCV valve) on top of the intake and drove 900 miles home. No oil blow-by (which was my largest concern) and no extra oil consumption.

A similar thing happened to my valve assembly, must have been broken for a while before I spotted it, had no discernable issues despite it. Temporarily repaired it with a short length of microbore copper to rejoin the tube until I got a replacement.
