I know someone's gonna flame me for this but here goes...

I drive on some really bad roads a lot. And stones, dirt and such have done their toll on the the lower sides of the car, 'below the beltline'.

So I've been doing some thinking on perhaps adding some plastic or metal panels to the doors/body to cover the area between the belt-strip and the lower skirting.

Anyone have any advice/thoughts/etc on this? Perhaps a photoshop to talk me out of it... I don't want to look like a Subaru, but I don't want to have unsitely paint chips/scratches either. And there's not much I can't do about the roads...

Hey, it is your Saab, do what you wish.

Have you added the long rubber splash guards on all 4 wheels, I imagine they will help a bit.

You can buy ScotchGuard clear plastic film for the nose section of many cars, invisible unless you look closely, and it's designed to stop stone chips etc. Also available to prevent headlights cracking. It's not cheap but it's specially cut to fit a specific car, maybe you could buy a roll of it and put it on the sides ? and no-one would be any the wiser.
