HI all, just a small question for the panel.
If you've just reconditioned your master cyclinder and have drained the hydraulic system do you have to bleed the brakes after bleeding the clutch ? for a 86 900 8v.

You didn't say which master cylinder you rebuilt. I'm guessing it was the clutch from the fact you said you have bled that. Theroretically, so long as the brake master cylinder still had an amount of fluid above it in the system and you didn't touch the brakes throughout then bleeding should not be necessary.

However, you should really bleed the brakes once in a while to keep them in top shape so I would recommend you do this just to be on the safe side. Its not a difficult job so long as the bleed nipple comes free. Also, you will have a mixture of fluid in the system. Do you know what was in there before? Is it compatible with what you just put in? I would recommend that you should replace the fluid in the braking side of the system also by just pumping the fluid through until new stuff emerges. Fluid should really be replaced every 2 years.

For info: The clutch fluid outlet in the reservoir is surrounded by a 'wall' so that, in the event that the clutch components fail, you won't lose your brakes. That said, Alexis' advice is sound, go bleed them...
