I believe NGK are selling the original SEM AB units, and possibly cheaper.

Any after-market brand - buy cheap, buy twice.

A few weeks ago bought an NGK boxed OE SEM red Di cassette fora pretty good price at Eeuroparts. Look for the one labeled "original supplier"

it came in an NGK box, the SEM sticker was removed and an NGK sticker put on, but otherwise it IS the SEM OE....for a lot less than Saab part listing.

caution that they also sell a third party brand, maybe proparts....? stay away from that.

Are the DI Cassettes repairable?
The DIC for T5.2 (9000, 1987-1992) was serviceable permitting the replacement of individual coils, Saab Part No. 7589815.

Internal electrical components such as the thyristor triggers are buried in the epoxy and cannot be serviced short of excavating them (if that is even possible) and then removing and replacing them.

The best place to buy a genuine SEM DIC is from a U-pull-an-pay junkyard.
Learn to read the date code -- Best $25 you'll spend on your Saab.

Pro-Parts Swede is code for Chi-laysian made CRAP -- run, don't walk away...

After 1999 Saab had SEM build them better -- find them on NG900's or 9K's that have had the original replaced already.

Agreed. And don't let the diagonal plastic crack on the underside cover put you off; they all do that.

The date code is the number of the week, and the year. 4309 would be week 43, 2009.
