Try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, leave it off for a minute or so to clear the codes. Then connect it up and drive around a little bit. It might stay off, if it comes back on you can turn the car to "on" and after it sits a few seconds, the check engine light will blink different codes, and you can look them up on various websites. If this doesnt help, try taking it in to an Auto Zone or other similar car parts store, they usually scan CEL's for free.
