Hi, I have a question on tuning.

I very much like to rely on the torque factor rather than power when driving. (I dislike the downshifting when increasing throttle while already accellerating inside or near max torque rpm range.) Before I go to BSR (Stage E85+Sport flow) with my '03 2,3t auto, I would like to hear others' opinions if tuning affects auto gearbox behaviour.

Which kit, BSR, Maptun or other would you say is better for driving on torque on the auto gearbox? Any other modifications possible, except getting a manual? :D

I have a stage 1 BSR tune on my car (1999 2.3l SE Auto) and it didn't affect the gearbox shift pattern at all. At least not from what I can tell.

I think the best thing to do if you want to "drive on torque" like you are describing, is to keep the trans in sport mode.

I did notice that with the BSR stage 1 when sport mode is off I only boost up to 7 psi in 1st gear, then it goes up to 11+ after that. I'm guessing it limits the boost in first gear to reduce the chance of wheel spin. But with the sport mode on it doesn't limit the boost at all, which means 11+ psi as soon as I hit the throttle, even in first gear and that means lots of wheel spin. Even with an auto! :cheesy:
