Hello All, my first post so nice to meet you all,, now to see if anyone can help me I have an Xreg 2001 9-5 auto 2.3 est,my gearbox has packed in and I need to replace it, saab say that only a 2000--2002 box will fit ,but surely there must be other models that share this box,and does anybody know where I can get one?HELP please ,Bill..

Two Stroke Turbo
Salvo Group
Neo Brothers

all 3 have web sites and contact numbers.

HI Kermit,I did try 1 from the list ,not too impressed with price but hey!!beggars cant be choosers,but my main reason for visiting the forum was to see if anybody had the knowledge to tell me if my box was fitted to any other Saab,cheers Bill..

I'll check my EPC when i get home for relevant part numbers. I can't see there being much difference between 98-02 gearboxes as they are all 4 speed Aisin Warner units. It may however be a software issue.

It would appear there are subtle differences.....

98-99 marked FA47AO1 part no is 4578563
00-01 part no is 5161088
02 marked FA57AO2 part no is 5257720

(presuming your 2.3 is the lpt model, Aero is different again) :x

HI Kermit, much oblidged for the information,and as my luck would have it my one is 2000>2001--FA 47A05=part no-5161088, agonising thing is Ive just changed gearbox on our pajero (lucky white heather as they say)thanks Kermit,,Bill..
