The speaker in the driver's door and on the driver's side dash on my new-to-me '99 9-3 SE vert aren't working.

1) Is this a common fault?

2) What's the usual remedy? (E.g., replace with speakers from junkyard? Rip out head unit and wiring?)

I figure that before I start doing some generic troubleshooting I'd inquire about whether this is a special SAAB problem with a special SAAB solution.

The dash speaker is going to be much easier to get to than the door speaker, so I would pull that one out a clip a known good speaker to the leads. That will tell you if you have a speaker problem, or HU problem... Ron
