Hey guys! I posted last week about an issue with my 85 900t16, The idle was getting worse i decided to clean the maf long story short my idle was worse. I bought another maf and its still doing the same thing ( flying up 1k rpm then to 0) Eventually with the maf it does settle at 900 rpm but as soon as i step on the gas and let go it goes back to bouncing. There is black smoke coming out of the tail pipe so i know its running rich. I Want to know if there is anyway to test it the wiring or maybe ecu? I tested the o2 sensor but its good and voltage is in spec.

Do all the plugs look the same?
If they run that rich, it's either the Air Mass Meter, NTC , massive vacuum leak, or leaking fuel pressure regulator. I suppose an ECU could cause that, though I've never seen it. Since it's an '85, the wires on the ground side of the injectors or the NTC wires could be grounding somewhere, try wiggling the harness.

Test the fuel pressure regulator. Mine was so bad that when I started it up with the vac line disconnected, it shot fuel out into the air.
