I am concern about the use of asbestos in the SAAB 900. I underestand that SAAB introduced an asbestos free system in the break system in 1984, but what about other parts like bonnet insulation or roof lining can anybody clarify if they are asbestos free.

I'm not sure the nature of your concern.... Are you living in the engine bay?

nope, but I do some repair work there, and I also live under a rooflinning
I think that the bonnet might not be made of asbestos bcz is somekind of black rubber but not sure about the cardboard of the roof linning.
I appreciate if someone have reliable information about this.

Sweden banned asbestos in 1982, so it seems impossible that Saab kept using it for anything..

I think the dangers of asbestos were widely known by the early 70’s if I’m not mistaken. I’m in the boiler industry and if a boiler is newer than that timeframe, we don’t even bother having it tested. I think you’re good to go.
