im running 235/45/17 on my 9-3 Aero, tires where put on by the dealership when they got the car. Tires feel great but the suspension could be better.

Man I wish I would've went wider. When i ordered my 17x7.5's, the recommended tire was 205 so I went with that

I installed 225/18 Michelin PS2s last Fall and they're not as wide as my 225 Goodyear F1s were....easily could have fit 235s! It would appear that width has lots to do with the manufacturer.

Michelins turned out to be a much better tire and I can't wait to et them back on and the snows off!!!

tread width can vary by manufacturer yes.

235's will fit, but you wind up with a soft sidewall which adds torque steer and instability. i stuck with the 225's and a little stretch.

205 on a 7.5" wide wheel? that's insane. i've got 205s on my 6.5" wheels. i'm also debating whether or not i can stuff 215s on there, but i highly doubt it.

Yep, according to tirerack. I was kinda surprised at that recommendation because my viking 16x6.5 had 195s on them...
