I've had 3 4'x8' sheets of 18mm MDF on mineand that was very heavy. Depends how far you have to go and how strong the rack is. The 900 roof is pretty strong. Biggest problem is securing the load so it won't fall off during braking or cornering.

Actually yes I have! But I didn't have too far to go and I never got out of 2nd. I'd say you're at the outer limits of what might want to carry on your roof.

The maximum weight i have ever had in the car was 520Kg of magnets, this gave me some rubbing on the back arches but the weight was disributed well.

I am not sure what the roof can take? i guess it depends on the rack.

Shame Saab never made a 900 estate, would have been interesting, a rival for the Volvo T5 estate.

I've carried a sofa bed in the boot before. Tied the tailgate down - if the bed had been 2" shorter I could have closed the hatch. Don't know how much it weighed but it was very heavy. It wouldn't fit in my Dad's Volvo estate at all :) .

The Hatch has one of the best boot space of any car i would say.

I got a tread mill in my car 2 weeks ago, a massive 100Kg one,

I had 3 UPVC doors from B&Q or Home Depo in my car once.

I have had 20 bags of sand.

20,000 buckles.

Plasma TV.

the only thing i havent had in my car is a coffin and i think i could get that in there no problems:cool:

I think around 6 feet ,7 inch is the max for a flat long load.

Not many people can boost that kind of loading space.

I overtook and then completely outdrove an Audi TT down a windy road with 200 kg of coal in the boot.

(Alright I'll stop now) :cheesy:
200Kg!

The weight of 2 modern teenagers:cheesy:

Well the ones i know anyway, one thing i will say for the Saabs is they do great even when fully loaded with people, most cars i have driven struggle to get up to speed.

I put a full size fridge in the back of my 89 900 that would not fit in my fathers GM Jimmy. Another time I got a 6 foot drill press and a 10 foot moore vent in the car and closed the hatch. I think it's better than a truck in some cases.:D

I've seen 900s flipped over on the roof with no damage so should be able to take some weight!

Does anyone have the vert ad/brochure photo where they put one vert on its lid (supported on its windscreen/A pillers) and another one on top of it wheel to wheel to show how strong it was?
