I just got me a set of Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S oooh yeah and I am going to get an alignment along with the install. I was just wondering, is there an advantage to getting it done at the dealership say than the local Firestone who offers lifetime alignments.

I ask because I had it done at a pepboy's once before and it didn't seem much better than before the alignment. I am hoping maybe getting it done at the dealer would be better or it doesn't really matter.

Unfortunately no local specialists where I live besides Volvo guys.

I would guess Firestone is as good as the dealer. The only real adjustement is the toe-in, so it seems simple enough. Pep-boys hasn't ever really impressed me with their skill, so perhaps they just happened to do a bad job. If firestone gives a lifetime guarentee, you can always run it back if you're not happy. Also, ask to get the computer printout. It tells you what the specs are, and tells you what your car is before and after the alignment.

Ricot: Guess how much I got my set for, $260 shippe but not brand new but treads at 95% of original, unfortunately also, I had to go up to 55 from 50 but considering I got it for nearly half the regular price, a good deal I think.

JMarket isnt the only thing we can adjust on our cars is the front toe? I dont think we can even touch rear toe.. and mine is slightly out

Dont forget to get a printout as jmarket said.. that way you can tell if they actually did anything :)

Yes, I think that's true (though I'm not an expert), at least officially. I think shops could add shims and such to the rear if there was very minor collision damage. Also, there must be a way to adjust things a bit by moving the subframe around. I got my transmission replaced (a subframe off job) and the alignment was crap afterwards (it was perfect before). I think the aligner was able to bring it back to spec with just the tie rod adjustment though. But anyway, the front caster/camber are supposed to be held firmly in place by the car's frame.

that is too bad because I think your car would look hot with viggen rims. especially being a red car, it would look VERY sporty and aggressive in that european car kind of way, not a rice kind of way.

The Old Grouch : And, that is also a good reason to buy Volvo, rather than Saab ..even if Saab is better..

Most alignment shops know automotive front ends and tires ( better than Saab knows Saab) - their equipment is rather expensive, particularly the best and the latest devices..

Go to the dealer to buy the new car, thats it ... The alignment shops, glass shops, independent repair shops, parts places are much the better..
