You could try removing the steering lock but the bolt probably wont be accessible.
So you either crowbar the airbag off to remove the CIM or give the car 12v and use the key.
I would want to use the key so that I know its paired to the car and the CIM is worth having!
The same car had fresh coils (the Saab/Mitsu ones) and the ECU so I got all of that stuff cheap ($45) When I got the email notifying me that a new car was added to the lot I went the next day. It also has new GM logo rear calipers which I plan on getting too.
