I'm looking to get a CIM from a car at a junkyard but the steering wheel is locked so I'm not able to move into the position to get to the clips to remove the airbag. Thoughts on what to do?

Yes...are you thinking I should bring a 12v source? I'd rather not for multiple reasons if at all possible.

No, I was thinking most junkyard cars don't have the key and without the key, the CIM isn't too useful. (I guess you could use one of those "I lost my SAAB key" services.)

You could try removing the steering lock but the bolt probably wont be accessible.
So you either crowbar the airbag off to remove the CIM or give the car 12v and use the key.
I would want to use the key so that I know its paired to the car and the CIM is worth having!

The bolt is accessible from the underside of the steering column, but I don't think you can remove the steering column lock when it's in the 'locked' position.

Thank you guys...I'll report back. I'm going to pry the airbag off. There is a key zip-tied to the steering wheel.

The same car had fresh coils (the Saab/Mitsu ones) and the ECU so I got all of that stuff cheap ($45) When I got the email notifying me that a new car was added to the lot I went the next day. It also has new GM logo rear calipers which I plan on getting too.
