Has anyone made up or had one made up for them. I don't fancy spending the dosh on an Abbotts one (or do they really cost that much to make). Would like to get one made in a hurry. Any advice??

thanks

We made up a few in food grade stainless (on the nightshift ...)and they were pretty easy to make

I reckon one of these exhaust guys could weld you up one in a flash

Or if the have a computerised mandrel bending machine (been watching american hot rods) couple of minutes ....

He means one of these 3" jobbies, mines 3" from the outlet of the intercooler to the throttle body. I was lucky to get a spare one off Ylee...:cheesy:

The abbott one isn't a patch on the 3" ylee type and I'm sure any pipefitting company could knock you on up, give them your standard one as a pattern and get them to do it 3" with a 2.5" reducer on the lower end to pick up the intercooler outlet hose.

I don't suppose anyone has the dimensions off hand of the pipe. I can't take mine off and give it to someone to use as I'm using the car daily at the moment.

Markk, that pipe is Massive, innit:cheesy: What's that little ITG filter thingy behind the cam cover?

I'll start making some enquiries tomorrow with local metal shops (if there are any locally:confused: )

cheers

was wondering about a custom job done on this pipe as well.. and those guys told me that only problem will be with those silicone connections. they even advised to try bending the pipe at the end and use a short silicone connection as those corners would be hard to get.

update: the above site looks good. might get it from them..

I think I paid approx £18 for the elbow from them, fantastic service, straight pipe is a lot more expensive as I had to buy 1m length.

I have a spare pipe Zars but its from a 1992 car with AMM which might be slightly different at the bottom end as the aero doesn't have the AMM in the way. Should be okay though to copy, you get a fair bit of movement on the flexibles. PM if you want a borrow.

The little filter is the engine breather, I ditched the Saab recirc system, I now have the engine breather fumes going to a oil catch tank I got from Quiller Triumph, nice bit of kit.

under new products, oil catch tank

that pipe is 72 mm dia (3") All the way down to the i/c where it tapers to a 2.5" pipe
the standard one is quite restrictive

Thanks Markk, I have a spare pipe from the 9K Carly we just broke. This too had an AMM. If someone can confirm if the pipe is the same as the pipe in my aero (w/out AMM) then i can use this one:cool: Also I'm certain that the dump valve on the Carly was behind the air intake and not in front. Is this correct or was I just seeing things???

Hehhh.. the OEM setup is far better than HomeTuners appreciate.
Even Honda Kids are learning that the myriad of Cold Air intakes have proven to actually reduce power in a street driven car.
Remember these inlets are attached to a Turbo inlet.. Think of it as a 50 hp vacuum cleaner.. do you ..really.. believe it can't inhale enough air form the OEM setup??

If it was the intake

this is the pipe from the intercooler to the intake manifold

so restrictions here cause probs

Too big and maybe you get slight lag probs because of the bigger entrapped air volume but I don't think so...

George, I'm like a little kid nearly wetting himself with excitement as to how much of an improvement the bigger pipe will make:cheesy: What do I have to look forward to once it's fitted?
