Recently acquired a 2006 9-5 wagon. I was told the AC did not work but upon inspection it is the blower motor not working. Does not work on any settings whether heater or AC related.
My question is what is the most common reason for blower motor not to work on a Saab 9-5?

I think it's the same reason as on a 9-3. The "seal" around the cabin filter holder let's water inside the car. The water drips right into the blower motor and causes it to lock up. That's what happened to me.

The brushes wear out in the motor, you can buy replacement brushes for very little money and fix it yourself.

Well didn't have this issue on a Saab, did have it on my 01 Dakota. The blower motor itself went bad and had to replace it, had water in it for some reason. The other thing if it is similar is a resistor could also be bad and cause the blower motor not to function.

Yes that can happen, but it is more common for a bad resistor to allow only high speed operation where the current does not flow through the resistor.
