My '89 Saab 900 turbo has an intermittent starting problem, somtimes when I turn the key I can hear the starter click, but nothing else happens. Sometimes all I have to do is leave my car alone for 10 minutes and come back and it starts right up. Other times my car will leave me stranded for hours, if I let it, but push starting almost always works. It seems to happen more often in warm weather, in the middle of the day. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check the wire connections in a big wire junction bundle ahead of the firewall. The bundle should include some starter wires. Not sure which side, since the starter on yours is on the left side (right?), while mine was on the right.

I had a similar problem for years, always blaming the starter. Someone finally did it right, checking connections, and found corroded connections in this big junction bundle. Never had a problem after that.
